The Summer I turned Pretty Season 2 Review

The Summer I turned Pretty Season 2 Review

As the successful show The Summer I Turned Pretty continues into its second season, the tension of the love triangle grows stronger. While season one was a relatable, cutesy, teen romance, season two grasps more into the darker hardcore part of life.

The growth of skills in each actor was evident, most specifically in Laurel (Jackie Chung) and Belly (Lola Tung). The Characters expressed scenarios that normally aren’t situations people feel comfortable showing. Bells and her Mom show a deeper aspect of their relationship and the reality of parenting during troubling seasons, like when Laurel finds Belly hungover at a place she shouldn’t be.

As the actors expanded their inner selves, their appearances were a subtle glow-up as well. Reinitiating last season, Conrad always mentioned how Belly’s hair was messy like a child’s. In a scene of Steven’s graduation, Belly gets all glamoured up presenting herself in current fashion and well-done hair.

Another big dynamic in the story is that Jeremiah has a stronger defense while in season one the spotlight was on Conrad. Believe it or not, Conrad becomes a bigger jerk than fans thought of him before. Just as people would’ve thought Bonrad would have the happy-ever-after ending they deserved, an on-and-off spark goes between them both.

As life throws curveballs in the story, the story throws huge plot twists at the viewers. Episodes one through seven of season two are currently out on Prime Video.
