About Us

Established in 2016, The Vanguard is a student-led online publication. The Vanguard’s name was established through the meaning of our mascot, the Trail Blazer. Like a trail blazer, a vanguard acts as the forerunner or the leading force behind an action or movement.

Mission Statement:

Our mission is to provide the news of Lebanon Trail and its surrounding community through credible and accurate reports. Our goal is to inform and entertain through a variety of news mediums on topics which concern our readers. As student journalists, we strive to present all issues with fairness, integrity, accuracy, and impartiality.

Publication Policy:

As a news-oriented publication, The Vanguard tries to maintain an unbiased and fair representation of events in news stories. In columns and editorials, however, the opinion and voice of the reporter is expressed. These views do not represent The Vanguard, Lebanon Trail High School or FISD as a whole. The Vanguard is under no obligation to seek out views that differ from staff reporters. However, The Vanguard will post different views if and when those opinions are submitted.
