Eight time Grammy winner Billie Eilish released a new album “Happier Than Ever.” This album comes as her third studio album after “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” and “Don’t Smile at Me.” The 16-song album released on July 30 has some of her recently trending songs such as “Happier Than Ever”, “Therefore I Am”, and “My Future”.

Happier Than Ever is the best one yet, because of its musical maturity and depth of message compared to her previous albums.

The lyrics have evolved to reflect a more mature and emotional self-transformation.

In the song  “Everybody Dies,” Eilish writes, “I don’t wanna cry some days I do but not about you, it’s just a lot to think about the world I’m used to.”  Eilish stated in her Youtube track by track that these lyrics reflect how vulnerable she was when she was a novice in the music industry and how more seasoned professionals took advantage of her naivety. Listeners relate because everyone has been used by someone they trusted in their life because they were too innocent.

In addition to her more mature lyrics, EIlish has taken a more positive outlook  than her previous albums.

In the song  “Listen Before I Go” Eilish writes, “Tell me love is endless, don’t be so pretentious, leave me like you do.” which implies to her listeners that many people have left her at some point in her life thus leading to her self doubt about abandonment.  In contrast, the title track of her new album “Happier Than Ever” stated that “When I’m away from you, I’m happier than ever” which shows Eilish’s change in perspective regarding life.  She went from having a fear of abandonment to self-realization that toxic relationships are unnecessary in her life.

Eilish’s newest release is truly her greatest work of art to date. It’s appealing to teenagers worldwide by discussing how she struggles with mental illnesses and identity in the new age of social media. Overall this album is a 4.5/5 because of her heartfelt lyrics and inspiring message.

Her album is available on any streaming platform including Apple Music, Spotify and Youtube.com.
