Every year, new clubs are made and many are disbanded. This year, one club on campus will be making its debut, focusing on medicine and the future of its members. The new club on campus this year is Medify, a non-profit organization.
Medify was first created during the summer of 2023, and was accepted as an organization on campus this school year. It solely focuses on those that are interested in a future in medicine, guiding them to the path they choose.
“[Many] students often have a field of study or idea of something they would like to do in the future,” Secretary of Medify, Harshini Ganapathy said. “However, many struggle with what exact career they would like to pursue. This organization helps students [piece] together their future in the medical field starting with what career they would go [to] in the future.”
Although the club is now fully formed, it didn’t start out like that, and it was the idea behind it that flourished into the non-profit it is today.
“[We] were thinking about how vast the medical field is and how [there are many careers out there that people don’t know about], Medify President Riya Kulkarni said. “One unknown career could be someone else’s true calling, [and] that’s what inspired us to make an organization that can have such an impact… that’s how Medify was born.”
While they have a clear goal in mind, the club is continuing to grow and members are still flowing in, joining with their own goals in mind.
“I joined this organization to educate others about various medical professions while also learning about them myself,” Treasurer Samira (Seema) Bahaji said. “I’ve always had an interest in medicine and it seemed like a great chance to surround myself with like-minded people who share the same passion.”
