LTHS basketball season approaches
Heart racing shots, a court battered by the continuous squeaks and rumbles of footsteps. The basketball season is coming up fast, and our athletes are gearing up for a strong season. In the midst of all this craziness, it can be easy to miss some of the effort that is put into athletes’ performance on the court.
Through lots of hard work and motivation, the LTHS basketball season has kicked off, with players hopeful for a great season.
Freshman basketball player Jaden Park is excited for the season ahead, hoping for many more wins.
Park is most excited for “practicing to get better,” he said. “I honestly think that everyday I get better. I have way higher goals to achieve for me and my parents.”
Staying strong throughout the season means staying not only excited, but also playing with reason, something unique to many athletes.
The most rewarding aspects of playing are “the crowds and your teammates [as] confidence is key in basketball,” Park said. “You need your teammates to have the energy in the game and crowds to cheer you on.”
While the athletes pour their sweat into the court, the coaches also have lots to manage and keep up with behind the scenes. With all their effort, there are a few lessons they hope for their athletes to get out.
Basketball coach Cameron Devereaux feels what puts the LTHS team above others is “our willingness to always fight until the end,” he said. “As coaches we strive to instill in our athletes the heart and passion to go out and give our best effort every game.”
The LTHS basketball team is just as excited as our students are to get out there and get wins. Come see them in action this week on 7 Dec. or 10 Dec.
