Memorial weekend and Presidents’ Day; what do they have in common? They give us longer weekends, what we call three-day weekends. Thanksgiving break and Spring break, what do they have in common? We get a whole week off of school, giving us more time to rest and relax. What if we had those longer weekends more often, and an extra week off of school? Well, that’s exactly what is going to happen in the next school year of 2024-2025.

I always say that students need more time to rest and that they deserve more breaks in order to have some free time and have fun. This is exactly what will happen next school year. During the first week of November, we are meant to have the whole first week off, and continue to have our scheduled Thanksgiving Break. Along with that, every two weeks we will get a three day weekend, giving students a little bit of time to reset.

This will allow for students to have more time to complete assignments, and allows more time for hanging out with friends and family. Whether that includes shopping, going to the movies, or staying at home watching Netflix with your pet.

I believe I will benefit from these extra days off, since I will be able to focus on projects and personal goals I have outside of my school life. I will be able to stay on task, completing all my work ahead of time and allowing for academic success.

In addition, I think that teachers may benefit from this new schedule. They will have more time to plan lessons, and they will get more time off, giving them more time to rest and recharge from all the work they have to do throughout the school year.

Overall, I feel that everyone will benefit from this new schedule change, and I think that next school year will be better than the current one.
