The Mathematical AMC 10

 On February 7th, Lebanon Trail will administer the AMC 10 examination, otherwise known as the American Mathematics Competition. The exam is 25 questions, and will start at 9:15. Students taking the exam will miss first period and part of second period, and it is a B Day.

 

“The AMC 10/12 provides an opportunity for high school students to develop positive attitudes towards analytical thinking and mathematics that can assist in future careers.”- Mathematical Association of America.

 

The AMC 10 is meant to promote and develop problem solving skills and can be taken in 10th grade and below. It includes basic algebra, elementary number theory and probability, and basic geometry including area and volume formulas as well as the Pythagorean Theorem. There is no trigonometry nor advanced algebra/geometry. The AMC 10 leads to the International Mathematical Olympiad.

 

January 12th is the deadline to sign up, and to do so go to the link below. There is a five dollar fee, which is paid through My Payments Plus between January 15th and 19th.
