The LTHS Academic Decathlon team went to districts on Saturday December 10th. Academic Decathlon is where students study a specific topic, this year’s being World War II, and take tests over the 7 subjects, economics, math, social science, science, literature, music, and art. They then go on to do a planned speech, impromptu speech, and interview.
We spoke to Eric Bau about the event. Eric made second over all scholastic against around 30 juniors and seniors from our district. He also got four medals that surprised him. “I wasn’t expecting to medal at all in our first actual meet” he said when asked about how he felt.
“I read the pages over and over until I could recite most facts,” Eric answered when we asked him about what it takes to prepare for an event such as Academic Decathlon.
We asked him about how he thinks that he will do at future meets, he replied “ I will probably do a little worse because of the competition but I hope to get higher scores.”
The team’s hard work paid off as they represented our school well!
