Four Future Facilities
Four new schools are scheduled to open in 2018 as part of the 2014 Bond program. Frisco ISD is opening two elementary schools, one middle school, and their tenth high school. To begin with, the schools were alleged to open in the fall of 2017, but were delayed due to the decline of the tax increase.
Nearly 60% of voters in Frisco rejected a TRE to increase the maintenance and operations budget from $1.46 per $100 assessed property value to $1.59. If the TRE was accepted, classes would have been smaller, more teachers would have been hired, and teachers would have higher pay. “Budget decisions will be made transparently and with many opportunities for input. The process will unite, not divide.” says Frisco ISD superintendent Dr. Jeremy Lyon.
Memorial High School will open with grades nine through eleven to relieve Wakeland, Heritage, and Lone Star high schools. Lawler Middle School will open to relieve Vandeventer and Scoggins middle schools. Talley Elementary School will open to relieve Curtsinger and McSpedden elementary schools. Liscano Elementary School will open to relieve Mooneyham, Norris, and Sem elementary schools.
The four future schools opening in 2018 will relieve crowding from many schools across the district and students will have an abundance of space for an improved, secure learning environment.
