As graduation nears, Lebanon Trail High School (LTHS) seniors are getting ready for one of the most thrilling evenings of the year: Prom. The dance this year has a garden-inspired theme, consisting of frilly flowers and plenty of foliage on a fresh venue, which signifies the flowering and maturation of the Class of 2025 as they transition from high school to college.
“I love how flowers or nature is included in the theme since they’re some of my favorite decorations,” said Nevaeh Lusby, a senior at LT.
Student Council (StuCo) is bringing the evening to life on Prom day. From on-location lighting and design, food and beverage as well as music, each aspect is carefully orchestrated to enhance the natural, romantic beauty of the theme. Their main goal is to develop an atmosphere that is respectfully immersive and full of memorable experiences.
“We’re using lots of flowers, fairy lights, and greenery to turn the venue into a magical garden. Student Council as a whole has worked hard on decorations and planning to match the vibe,” said Amey Shah, the LT StuCo secretary. “It’s been a lot of work, but we’re excited for everyone to see it come to life! The planning process can be tedious but it’s so much fun being able to be a part of planning something that you’ve waited for all your high school years.”
While the event itself provides the main excitement, seniors are also investing their time and energy into solo preparation for the dance, such as picking outfits that will be theme-acceptable, arranging group photos and creating evening festivities that stretch way beyond the dance floor. It’s not merely a school event, but a way to commemorate senior year as a whole
“My plans for Prom are going to be more intimate and just a time for me to hang out with my friends on this special day! Our outfits don’t exactly match the garden theme because we’re wearing colors like black and red, but our pictures will be somewhat garden related,” said Nidhi Kankanala, a senior at LT. “We don’t have anything set in place for dinner but I know we’re probably going to end the night by winding down at my best friend’s house!”
Prom is not just a dance, it is an escape from the madness of a crazy year for seniors. Amid college announcements, testing and goodbyes, it’s a time to be surrounded by friends and bring their high school years to a close on a nice note. The garden theme represents growth, change, and reflection, something that resonates deeply with the Class of ‘25.
“Prom, to me, is a celebration of how far we’ve come and one last moment to make memories with the people who’ve been part of this journey,” said Nadeen Sainju, a senior at LT. “As a senior, it feels like a meaningful pause before the rush of graduation and the start of something new.”
At LT, the garden aesthetic is not just a superficial visual element, it’s a theme which builds a sense of easy, optimistic, sunny hope for the future. While deadlines and decision-making have overwhelmed the past year, Prom supplies another beat, one that challenges students to just be where they are before they can get anywhere else.
