After taking over a year-long break, South-Korean girl group TWICE released their album titled “Strategy” on Dec. 6. The album features seven songs with one being their own unique rendition of one of their songs. Their title track “Strategy” named after the album features American rapper and singer songwriter Megan Thee Stallion.
Debuting on Oct. 20, 2015, TWICE has been a group for over nine years now. Over the course of their careers this nine member K-pop girl group has released eight studio albums, 14 EPs, and four reissued EPs. The girl group was formed on the reality survival tv-show “Sixteen” under JYP Entertainment.
Transforming their music style over time from upbeat songs to ballads to pop music. Their latest title track “Strategy” exemplifies a mix between Korean and Western music creating a perfect hit for the charts. Their song “Strategy ft. Megan Thee Stallion” describes a girl who employs strategies in the face of a crush. “Step one, do my highlight; Make me shine so bright in the moonlight.” This line references beautification in order to appear more presentable in the public’s eyes.
With the span of seven songs, TWICE takes a fresh take on the music within the K-Pop industry. TWICE continues to blend the line between Korean and American songwriting seamlessly making a blend between genres. Grossing over 16 million views in a week’s duration TWICE persists to break records in the industry.
