On Wednesday, Oct. 30, Trunk Or Treat took place in the LTHS school cafeteria. Not only is it an opportunity for students to interact with each other, but also a chance for clubs to promote themselves and become known.
“Participating in the trunk-or-treat booth benefitted my club by increasing visibility and allowing us to engage directly with both the community and club members in an interactive, festive setting,” Praseedha Vuyyuru, senior and vice-president of LTHS club 4H, said.
Students at our school enjoyed exploring both old and new clubs while trick or treating.
“I learned about many different clubs at LTHS and a lot of them were ones I didn’t even know we had!,” Senior Nidhi Kankanala said. “Trunk or treat was a great opportunity for clubs to promote their cause while also having fun celebrating Halloween!”
Each club had a table they booked that served as their ‘booth’ and there were different types of activities to do at each club.
“Our club activity was a portable Skee-Ball station where the player gets three tries to shoot the ball into any pocket hole level,” Senior Nisha Loganathan said. “If they manage to shoot the ball into a hole within those three tries they get two pieces of candy, if they don’t, they get one. This fun and interactive game for kids was used to interest them towards our station yet didn’t have any link to our club itself. It was a popular game at the Trunk or Treat.”
Originally, this event was supposed to be outside in the school parking lot, however, due to weather conditions, it was moved inside for safety.
“I personally liked having it inside just because it felt more like a school event, and everyone being closer together made it easier to interact with everyone,” Kankanala said.
Not everyone liked the change though, believing that the event would have been more successful outside.
“Although hosting Trunk or Treat outside would have made the event feel more like real trick-or-treating and would have been preferable, moving the event indoors was unavoidable due to weather conditions,” Vuyyuru said.
Overall, the many different clubs were satisfied with the outcome, and they look forward to the next one.
“The event was successful given that it did attract many attendees and gave many clubs the opportunity to connect with a new crowd and work towards their purpose,” Vuyyuru said. “In addition, it allowed for both fun and meaningful interactions which led to a great experience for everyone involved, making it an excellent platform for community outreach, effectively promoting various club’s missions while giving back to the community.”
