As soon as you walk into Qahwa House, you’re met with a rich scent of freshly brewed Yemeni coffee, drawing you into its warm atmosphere. The cafe has cozy lighting, nice decor, and a welcoming vibe. It has multiple seating arrangements ranging from comfy couch, bar-like table, and normal chairs. From families to study groups, there’s always a mix of people enjoying the environment, but if you’re planning to focus, don’t forget your headphones, as it can get really loud in there.
The first thing I ordered was the 12 ounce Adeni chai for four dollars and fifty cents. It had a very traditional taste, but the strong spices made it slightly bitter, which some enjoy but I did not. If you’re like me and prefer a sweeter drink, I recommend asking for extra sugar to balance the bitterness. For those who enjoy the bold spice, you might like it! Overall, I’d give it a three out of five.
The next drink I got was the iced strawberry refresher for $7.00. It had a sweet, nice strawberry flavor. It was very refreshing, and definitely the best drink I ordered there. All together I rate it a four point eight out of five.
The last drink I ordered was a latte for $6.00. It was a solid, classic option, with a hint of bitterness. Nothing too special about it, but is a good choice if you’re in the mood for a simple latte. I’d give it three and a half out of five
The first dessert I got was the Pistachio milk cake for $5.00. It has a light subtle pistachio flavor, not too strong, which I really enjoyed. The milk cake is very well soaked and has a great texture, paired with a very nice and subtle nutty flavor. It did not have an artificial taste and tasted very authentic. I give it a four point eight out of five.
Finally, I got a Talia for $4.00. It has a good mix between eastern and western desserts and had a unique pistachio flavor that I personally was not fond of but my friend loved. It was creamy at top and crumbly at the bottom, creating a nice texture. However, it was a one bite dessert for four dollars which I thought was a little pricey compared to their other desserts. I rate it a three out of five.
In conclusion, I’d rate the coffee shop a solid four out of five. The atmosphere is really inviting, relaxed and flexible, giving you the freedom to work, or just enjoy your time with friends and families. Despite being quite busy with a long line, everything I ordered arrived within five minutes, which was impressive. The pricing is fair, leaning a little toward the higher side, but not unreasonable. It’s definitely a great spot if you’re looking for a place with good vibes and great service.
