Kevin Sullivan, born in Honolulu, Hawaii, is one of the new teachers in the Geometry department this year. This is his first year teaching at Lebanon Trail, but not his last, next year he will become an Algebra 2 teacher.
Mr. Sullivan started teaching because he wanted to help students grow and be the best versions of themselves they could be.
“My mother was a teacher and my father was a committee leader… I guess I was inspired by that. I’ve always wanted to help people achieve whatever they’re interested in,” Mr. Sullivan said.
The thing that Mr. Sullivan enjoys most about teaching is seeing his students come to an understanding and enjoy what he’s teaching.
“When I can see that students are understanding it and now they have an open mindset and are not closed and open to learning different things,” Mr. Sullivan said.
Mr. Sullivan is not just qualified to teach Geometry in high school, but many other subjects and many other age groups as well.
“I’ve taught all different types of math, I’ve taught English, I’ve taught flying, I’ve taught Leadership, I’ve taught business leaders in Japan for corporations.” Mr. Sullivan said.
Other than teaching Mr. Sullivan writes books for children hoping to make learning fun for younger ages.
“I want to inspire young readers and families to get together and build a connection and build on foundational reading skills.” Mr. Sullivan said.
Hopefully, Mr. Sullivan will continue to help students young and old the importance of learning.
“I can see when someone’s learning and enjoying it because that’s the best thing…” Mr. Sullivan said.
