5 months after the release of his album “(un) commentary”, Alec Benjamin started on a world tour going around to Asia, North America, Australia, and Europe to perform his newly released songs. September 9, 2022 Benjamin held his second show for the North America part of the tour in downtown Dallas.

The concert was opened by Claire Rosinkranz where she sang one of her most popular songs, “Backyard Boy”, and other unreleased songs from her upcoming album.

I hadn’t heard of the opener before so I was curious to see what their music would be like and I ended up loving it,” said senior Tanvi Kangralkar. “Claire was so full of energy and was engaging with the crowd plus I loved the energetic beat of the song. When she started singing backyard boy I was so shocked because that was one of my favorite songs and I didn’t know it was from her band so that was a pleasant surprise.”

The entire venue was packed with fans, and cheers erupted from the standing pit when the audience realized Alec came onstage.

My favorite part of the concert was when Alec Benjamin finally came onstage and nobody realized he did because it was so subtle, but then we all started cheering,” Kangralkar said. “It was funny.”

In addition to the songs on his (un) commentary album, Alec performed some of his older songs that were released before he came into the limelight such as “Outrunning Karma”, and “Boy In The Bubble”.

I’m a fan of a lot of Alec’s older songs and I expected him to play a lot of his recent songs, but when I heard older songs like “If We Have Each Other” and “Boy In The Bubble”, it brought me back to 2017-2018,” Kangralkar said.

The audience sang along as Alec remixed fan favorites “Let Me Down Slowly” and “Water Fountain”, while clapping along to the beat.

My favorite part of the concert was screaming my lungs out to Water fountain, a song that got me through a rough breakup in my life”, said senior Gia Shetty.

Kangralkar first heard the song “Water Fountain” on TikTok a few years ago and enjoyed hearing it live.

“I really liked the song and when he actually played it at the concert everybody started screaming because we were so excited and it was one of the crowd’s favorite songs”, said Kangralkar. “It was fun to sing along with everybody knowing it was one of our favorite songs by Alec.”

The concert ended as the lights started to dim, and Alec finished singing the song “Speakers” while the crowd swayed to the tune.

“This experience was worth the 3-month wait and I was so glad to experience this with my friends!”, said Shetty.
