Humans of LT — Officer Lo
Air jordans line the wall in glass cases and almost glow in sync as you enter the room. Basketball coach? Nope.
Being the SRO —or School Resource Officer— for LTHS can be challenging, but Officer Will Lo is a perfect fit despite the challenge his job poses.
“I love [being an officer] and I enjoy the challenge it presents,” Lo said. “I love the hours, and I love interacting with the students, the staff, the faculty.”
The most important thing in any job is to love the people around you, and to actually enjoy your career choice.
“LT is its own tiny community and being able to help keep everyone safe and help provide just another person for people to talk to and I think it’s very fulfilling,” Lo said.
Every person has a story to tell about how they got to where they are today, and Officer Lo is no different.
“I decided to become a school officer because I needed a change from a patrol officer,” Lo said. “I felt that moving over to schools would present a different opportunity for me.”
We all usually have dreams of becoming someone or something big when we were younger, but very few, like Lo, stick to those big dreams.
“Right out of college, originally I wanted to join the FBI or the CIA or something federal, like a federal law enforcement, however I felt like I needed more experience first, before applying so I joined the frisco police department, you know and I’ve enjoyed it ever since,” Lo said.
Looking at the collection of shoes that line his wall, you might think that Officer Lo is a basketball coach, but his job title says otherwise, and we’re all the safer for it.
