Artistic Blazers Painting A Trail
Spring has brought new opportunities and competitions to Lebanon Trail students. Art students have had the option to enter their art in many competitions and shows this year.
Students recently drew butterflies to submit in a contest for the Butterfly Festival at Emily Ann Theatre and Gardens, which will be held on April 22nd. A butterfly is drawn to be entered into one of two divisions, including fantasy and realistic. There will be winners for both divisions as well as an overall winner, whose butterfly will be featured on a T-shirt sold annually at the festival.
The Frisco Arts in the Square Festival was held on April 1st and April 2nd. The Lebanon Trail art teacher, Mrs. Summers, was allowed to submit student art for a competition. Also for the festival, students created bowls out of clay to sell for the Empty Bowls Project, which exists to raise awareness of hunger.
Another competition Lebanon Trail art students are participating in is for the Dallas Is Diversity calendar for 2018. The calendar is created by the Dallas Cup and contains soccer-inspired artworks done by entrants that feature themes of diversity. Submissions are due later this April, and only thirteen people can win a spot in the calendar, some even winning monetary prizes.
Art students have set out to accomplish a lot in various competitions during the first school year of Lebanon Trail. From VASE, to Doodle 4 Google, and now to the new springtime competitions, art students have been working hard this year.
