As the school year is getting closer to finish, many of us all face the challenge of AP testing coming up during the first two weeks of May 2021. As a current sophomore, this feeling of nervousness seemed quite unfamiliar to me due to the virtual testing environment from 2020.
I still remembered last year when I pressed the begin button on the virtual AP testing website as I experienced the first ever AP testing of my life. It went by like a breeze that barely stayed on my mind. However, this year it is far different than last year.
Nevertheless many other students felt the same way. Sophomore Naviya Ravi said that she felt a bit nervous however she believes that in the next few weeks, preparation will help ease her stress of the upcoming exams.
“I think preparations before the AP exam is crucial”, Ravi said. “ It allows us to discover our strengths and weaknesses, allowing us to target specific concepts. By preparing, we refresh our minds on topics we learned throughout the entire year, ultimately setting us up for success.”
In light of the upcoming AP exam, here are some of the tips from the official AP site that I want to share with you to help you prepare for the upcoming test:
Clearly set up a goal of what you want to accomplish and understand what areas you need to improve on by analyzing previous assessments and practices.
Create a detailed and efficient study plan for each exam. The plan should outline daily tasks and assignments to improve your skills in weak areas while strengthening your knowledge of basic concepts.
Search for review resources via trusted sources such as Princeton Review, course textbook or AP website.
Practice timed exams and questions to get used to the testing timing and practice using testing strategies.
Stay on schedule with proper time management in order to achieve a balanced and organized study process.
