Recently, two groups of students from Lebanon Trail have made great achievements in the Lexus Eco Challenge, both winning 10,000 dollars in the competition.

The Lexus Eco Challenge is designed to utilize students’ skills in many subjects to tackle problems the world is currently facing in the environment, and Lebanon Trail has received numerous accolades for its students’ work.

Last year, a group of students from Lebanon Trail excelled in the Lexus Eco Challenge, first winning 10,000 dollars, and then a grand prize of 30,000 dollars. Their first project was Half Watt Wednesday, followed by Second Chance Band.

This year, there are two groups of students representing Lebanon Trail in the Lexus Eco Challenge out of 16 groups of participating high school student groups across the United States. There are three parts of the competition, the Land and Water Challenge, Air and Climate Challenge, and the upcoming Final Challenge. So far the two groups, the Kayak Club and Beyond the Footprint, have both won 10,000 dollars. The students behind the Kayak Club are Eric Bau, Jackson Young, Kathryn Clark, Michael Mikhaiel, and Navya Chintaman. Beyond the Footprint consists of Eric Bau, Joey Lopez, Tanay Rishi, Samyam Lohani, Shivam Gupta, and Zain Kalson.

These students will continue to work hard, doing research and work to compete on the behalf of themselves, their teachers, and Lebanon Trail High School. Congratulations to students who have excelled in this competition and who will move on to try to win the grand prize.
