At Lebanon Trail High School, many students have shown leadership and accountability in what they do, but one group of students took it further. Arvind Subramanian, Abigail Love, Avery Sinnathamby, Kylie Mannan, and Wail Aldahni represented our school for the Lexus Eco Challenge, a competition for students to step up and try to save energy.

Through collaborations with the school and community, the team conducted Half Watt Wednesday on December 7th, convincing 21 schools to run on half the lights for the day. They saved over 600 kilowatts and prevented over 300 pounds of CO2 from entering the atmosphere.

Mrs. Church sponsored the team and announced their $10,000 award and their advancement to Nationals.

“A leader is one who stands above the rest and sets an example. They do the right thing when no one is watching,” said Kylie Mannan, a member of the Lexus Eco Challenge.

The Lexus Eco Challenge was a way for students to take matters into their own hands to make the world a better place. Their 10,000 dollar award represents their success.
